TRANSPORT BILL.
PENDING LEGISLATION.
DELEGATIONS FOB.
WELLINGTON.
CITY AND SUBURBS TO BE
REPRESENTED.
Representatives of both the Auckland City Council and suburban local bodies will leave for Wellington to-morrow evening in connection with the Auckland ■ Transport Bill, which is to come before I Parliament next week.
The Auckland City Council representatives will be the Mayor (Mr. G. Baildon), Messrs. A. J. Entrican, J. A. C. Allum, A. E. Ford. J. Stanton and E. Phelan. The Mayor of Mount Eden (Mr. E. H. Potter) will be the leader of the suburban delegates.
The pending legislation was discussed last evening at a meeting of Auckland business men, Dr. F. J. Rayner being elected chairman. A decision was made not to oppose the passage of the bill, but to make every effort to see that it was an elective and not a nominative body. The suggested constitution of the board, six members from the City Council and four from the suburban local bodies, was criticised, and the opinion was expressed that the ten members I should be returned on the widest franchise.
