Widely-drawn regulations under the Dangerous Drugs Act, VJ27, were gazetted this < week.

livery person desiring to import anv dangerous drugs (other than prepared opium, the importation of which is prohibted by tne Act; must apply to the Comptroller of Customs, Wellington, for a license, and must satisfy him that the importation of the drugs is lawfuLjinder the Act, and that any raw opium or coca leaf, or any other dangerous drug included in such application, is required for, and will be used for, legitimate purposes. Every person who desires to obtain a license to deal in dangerous drugs must apply in/ writing to the DirectorGeneral of Health, setting out the drugs and his full address. The Direc-tor-General may in any case require the applicant to furnish information or evidence, by statutory declaration or otherwise, as to the nature of his business, the extent to which he proposes to deal in dangerous drugs, his personal character, or any other matter relevant to the. granting of a license. Jwery registered chemist and every practitioner is deemed to be licensed to deal in all dangerous drugs for the purpese of their respective businesses or professions. bi»t not otherwise. The Minister may revoke the license of any person- convicted of an offence against the Act or tho regulations, in the case ot medical practitioners only on the recommendation of the Medical < ouncil. and in the case of a registered chemist, dentist, or veterinary r-urrreon on the recommendation of the* Directot General of Health.
