Walhi. —The acting superintendent report• that the principal operations carried out la the mine daring the four-weekly period ending 28th July, was as follows:—No. 14 level: Martha lode east of No. 4 shaft crosscut. Driving was continued to 696} feet, the eastern boundary being crossed at 662 feet. The assay value is low. No. ll level: Empire lode: east of McNamara crosscut (In Grand Junction area). The drive has been carried to 2061 feet. Driving is suspended while a rise is being put up at 150 feet with the object of finding out how far the good ore met in the Dominion lode at No. 10 level extends downwards. No. 10 level: West reef from Shark crosscut. All work on this formation has beeh stopped. During the period the north crosscut was extended to 65 feet with no change from that pre l vionsly reported. Dominion lode—A further 31} feet was driven west of Weeks' crosscut in the Grand Junction area, making a total of 165| feet. At 150 feet a calclte lode 8 feet wide, striking in diagonally from the north, has cut off the lode. The level is now being widened preparatory to stoping, the width taken varying between 11| and 16 feet. South branch 22? ode east of Dreadnought junction—The drive is now a total of 895 -Wj* boundary, being crossed at t S' AB S?.. n,Be during the period lridtWrntn'lrf Sll 2 5 / 1 per ton I and width from 18 inches to 5 feet. No. 9 level: South branch of Dreadnought lode in Grand Junction area. The eastern drive was continued feet. The object of this work is to get into conthe Dominion lode in the Grand Junction area. Diamond drilling: No 2? hole was drilled to 485 fee*, which is'th* limit,ot the .drilling machine. Beveral small quartz leaders were paused through of little or no wine A new hole (No. 38) has been commenced at No. 10 leyel horizontally in a S.B. direction, from theEd ward cross lode at a point .1867 feet, south from No. 2 shaft. A ;tance of 72: feet has been drilled. No 4 bote <lwge machines was not advanced during the period owing to the crown baggflagfjammed to the bottom oraS h«l». However it is anticipated drilling wltt bo resumed during the craning period.
