TALLYMEN'S DISPUTE.
THE EMPLOYMENT OF PERMANENTS. APPLICATION TO ARBITRATION COURT. PRINCIPLE OF WATERFRONT AWARDS. Agreement in conciliation having been reached on most points at issue in connection with the Auckland tallymen's dispute, the only matter that remains for the Arbitration Court to decide is whether or not permanent tallymen should be included in the award.
Advancing the claim that permanents should be brought within the provisions of the award, Mr. H. J. Wright, employers' representative, said the award was based on the waterside workers' award and applied to casuals only The inclusion of permanent men in the award would lead to a good deal of confusion and would also be a departure from the principle underlying agreements that applied to work on the waterfront.

Mr. Carter: In a sense it would
The Court decided to consider tlie points and deferred its decision.
