RUGBY.

THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP.

UNIVERSITY v. PONSONBY.

SPARKLING GAME ANTICIPATED.

Sparkling Rugby is anticipated in the game at Eden Park to-morrow between University and Ponsonby to decide the Auckland Union's club championship for 1928. This match will wind up the season, and it is expected that it will provide a fitting close for another bright Rugby year.

To-morrow's game will be the third meeting between Ponsonby and University this season. When the teams first tried conclusions the royal blues delighted their supporters by scoring a great victory, 25 points to 8, against last year's champions, but at the second meeting the teams finished up level, 14 all, after one of the finest games of the season. To-morrow's contest, therefore, should be evenly contested throughout, with probably little between the teams at the end. It is expected that the match will draw a big crowd to the park. Teams are as follow:— UNIVERSITY. Senior Grade.—Bush. Minns, Stotter, Goodwin. McKay. N. .Tenkin, Carter. Keene, Black. Hindenach. Linton. .T. Jenkln. Anderson. Brooker. Members of the Marist Old Boys' Rugby Union Football Club will hold a special meeting at the Vermont Street school at 10.30 a.m. on Sunday. A dance, at which Swin Hadley, the All Black, will be welcomed home, will be held in the Manchester Unity Hall on Tuesday, October 16. FRIENDLY GAME ARRANGED. The College Rifles' third-grade team and a North Shore team will meet in a friendly game at Devonport to-morrow. The match is set down for 3 p.m.
