The metalling of the Waipoua Forest Road is being pushed on by the Public Works Department.
From the Wairau quarry 14 motor trucks are transporting and working toward the Waipoua Forest stream, and it is estimated that the gap, now only about a mile, will be completed by the end of this month. From the Waipoua stream quarry half a dozen motor trucks are concentrating on metalling the section between the Waipoua stream and Newman's. The first course of metalling has been spread to the vicinity of the school.
A party of about 60 delegates to the Empire Forestry Conference, including Lord Lovat and Lord Clinton, will visit the forest on October 20, and they will be followed on November 1 by a partv comprising over 60 Auckland business men.
