TOURING PRELATES.
VISITORS FROM AMERICA. ARRIVE BY SYDNEY STEAMER. A party of overseas prelates, returning from the recent Eucharistic Congress at Sydney, arrived by the Maheno this morning to tour the North Island. They will leave for their homes in the United States by the Maunganui from Wellington on October 9. They are in charge of Mr. G. A. Colmett, of Auckland, who piloted a Canadian party of Eucharistic visitors through the North Island after they landed from the Niagara on August 13. After showing them the sights in New Zealand Mr. Colmett conducted them through an Australian tour, and they left for their homes on September 15. The director then took the New York party and toured them through certain parts of Australia before coming on to New Zealand. It was originally intended that some 30 .visitors should be on this particular trip, but at the last moment 15 of them decided to cut out New Zealand and travel to their home cities by other routes. The party, which arrived by the Maheno this morning, included Bishop Schwertner, of Wichita, Kansas; Bishop Drumm, of Des Moines, Iowa; Father Morell, secretary to Bishop Schwertner; Miss A. M. McManemin, of Philadelphia, and Miss M. Hyland, of Chicago. After spending a few days seeing the sights of Auckland the party will leave for the thermal regions.
