RADIO FOR SICK.

SETS FOR HOSPITAL.

AJPPEAI. FOR FUNDS

A DESERVING CAUSE

Wireless has influenced people the world over, but few appreciate it more than those who are laid aside in their eick beds. To them it Is an aid to recovery, for it reduces that sense of isolation that was formerly associated with being in hospital. Through the generosity of the Auckland public some wards in the local hospital have already been equipped witih radio, and a movement is on foot to complete the installations. A drive for funds for this purpose will be made in the city and suburbs and at Carla-w, Blandford and Eden Parks on Saturday next. Mrs. Mary Dreaver, organiser of the campaign, is anxious to get in touch with all those willing to assist in the drive. Already arrangements have been made for the Mayoresses of suburban borouglis to conduct stalls in their respective districts, while stalls in the city will be in charge of the following:— Mrs. Amy Hutchinson (Milne and Choyce), Miss De Marr (John Court's corner), Mise D'Arcy Jones (Smith and Caughey's), Mrs. George Davies (Post Office), Mrs. Drumgoull (Symonds Street), Mrs. Andrew Cassie (Point Chevalier), Mrs. H. Vaughan and Mrs. N. Person (Grey Lynn), Mra. Chapman (George Court's corner, Newton), and Mrs. French (Three l*amps, Poneonby). At the football grounds the fair collectors will include primary school girls. ■ "All the prominent people of Auckland, organisations such as Friendly Societies, The Commercial Travellers' Club, Eotarians, social clubs and the Churches, and most of all the sick of the city are sympathetic to this great movement," eaid Mrs. Dreaver this morning. "All want radio in their public hospital, and we hope the public will recognise the deserving nature of the appeal."
