ANOTHER GOOD MONTH.
FIGURES FOR AUGUST.
INCREASE SHOWN.
Another brisk month of shipping at the port of Auckland re recorded in the monthly report of the traffic manager (Mr. Holden) presented to to-day's meetin" of the Auckland Harbour Board. Imports during the period showed an increase in tonnage of 8098 tons over the figures for July last, which aggregated 100,474 tons. In August, 1927, imports aggregated 94.545 tons, and last month 109,172 tons. The individual importations from various countries are as follow:— Coastal (beyond province): 35,742 tons; Pacific Islands (mainly fruit and manures), 13,723 tons; Australia (including coal and coke 9644 tons), 15,547 tons; Java (raw sugar only), 6195 tons; Mexico (asphalt), 1385 tons; United Kingdom (principally general), 16,414 tons; Canada, 3508 tons; United States (fuel oils 5805 tons, timber 2300 tons, manures 3152 tons and general 4545 tons), 109,172 tons. During the month 845 passengers arrived from other parts and 1445 departed.
