Sir H. Wilkins And Australian Actress. NO DATE FIXED FOR MARRIAGE (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) NEW YORK, September 23. The engagement is announced of Sir Hubert Wilkins, the Australian Polar explorer, to Miss Suzanne Bennett, an Australian actress. An earlier report of Sir Hubert’s engagement was denied, it being explained that the pair were “just friends.” Miss Bennett, who is said to be a niece of General Sir John Monash, confirms the engagement. She says she became affianced to Sir Hubert three days ago. She met him for the first time when the explorer arrived at New York from Spitzbergen. No date has been fixed for the marriage.

SIMON COMMISSION. SEVEN MONTHS’ STAY IN INDIA (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, September 23. Sir John Simon and his colleagues engaged on the Statutory Commission and on Indian Reform will leave London on Thursday for their second tour in India. The first, which took place in February and March, was a preliminary exploration of the ground and no formal sittings were held. For the record of evidence and for the purposes of this final tour the commissioners will be absent from England for about seven months, and when they return at the end of April all material for the formulation of their conclusions will have been collected.

(Australian and N'.Z. Press Association.) (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, September 23. Mr. Oswald Mosley, M.P. (Lab., Smethwick) says that titles do not count nowadays and, therefore, he is not surrendering the title which becomes his through the death of his father last week.
