ACCLIMATISATION MATTERS.
•MATAMATA SOCIETY MEETS

ihe annual meeting of the Matamata Acclimatisation Society was held on Friday.
Officers were elected as follows:—President. Mr. W. W. Livingstone; secretary, Mr. C. G reen; committeeman, Mr. D. N. Hay.
Ihe policy of the Auckland Society with regard to Lake Arapuni and stopping trolling was endorsed. Ihe question of allowing whitebait fishing in trout streams was discussed. The president said it was admitted that taking whitebat from the streams robbed the trout of food, but the Auckland Association was doing what it could to stop the practice.
It was decided to ask the Auckland Society to increase the price for hawks beaks from 6d to 1/. It was explained that tiie hawks had so decreased in number that it now took some effort to obtain them.
