ELEVEN POINTS IN FIRST HALF. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ___ CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. Canterbury played Wellington in wet weather, the ground being sodden. There were five thousand present. In the Canterbury team Harris replaced Mehrtens, and Montgomery replaced Tom Robinson. Porter marked the kick-off, and Page kicked back, the Wellington backs got going, and in a great run covered fifty yards before Brodrick was pulled down by Doreen. A rush started by Page saw the ball go to Chesley, and then infield along the line of backs, but the effort was smothered. Brodrick put in another good run, Doreen again stopping him. Leys, with a dodgy run, sold a dummy to three Canterbury men, but a penalty nullified his effort. Heazlewood had a fairly long shot at goal from a penalty, and kicked a beautiful goal. Wellington 3, Canterbury 0. Canterbury forwards gained ground with a brisk passing rush, but off-side play spoiled the effort. Leys started a back movement, and sent the ball along his , backs. Foley cut out a man and sent on to Pickering and Mackay. The winger passed infield, and Pickering ac cepted the pass,*to run unopposed behind the posts. Heazlewood converted. Wellington 8, Canterbury 0. Page provided a thrill by cutting clean through the opposition. He sent a long pass to Innes, who passed to Oliver, who fumbled with a try in sight. Wellington returned to the attack and a penalty against Canterbury gave a chance to Heazlewood, who goaled with a beautiful kick.

Two smart rushes by Chesley were repulsed by good kicking by Porter. The ball went to the Can. terbury backs, but Innes sent Oliver ai impossible pass. Canterbury made desperate attempts to start a telling rush, but they lost possession and Wellington returned to the home twenty-five. Scrambling play followed till McKenzie took a pass and sent Pickering and Brodrick away. The winger was pulled down by Doreen, and a free kick relieved Canterbury. Innes made a good opening which was spoilt by bad handling. Page sent Innes and Oliver away, but the latter’s inpass was smothered

At half-time the score was: Wellington 11, Canterbury 0. In the second spell Page sent his backs away, but Chesley was pulled down.
