AFTER THE FIRE.
HORAHORA POWERHOUSE. RAPID RESTORATION. NORMAL SUPPLY IN A WEEK. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The district electrical engineer, Mr. T. MacLennan, states that within a week Horahora should be supplying its normal contribution of current. Nearly all the transformers damaged by the tire on September 1 have been reconditioned, and two-thirds of Horahora’s normal capacity is being generated and transmitted. It is expected that within qjSpeek the remaining bank oi transfoi ruefs, with a capacity of 4000 kilowatts, will be in commission again. This work has been carried out without the installation of new transformers. Some new switchgear has been ordered. The roof of the transformer house has been rebuilt and a new workshop is being constructed. New transformer stations have recently been built at Kerepeehi to supply Hauraki Plains, and at Waiotahi and Raugitaiki for the use of the Opotiki Power Board.
