The following Information has been cabled to London: No. 9 level Repina section of Martha lode, further particulars from the crosscut throught this reef are, next 18ft diagonally assays 38/0 per ton, and the last 17ft at right angles assays 25/9 per ton. Then there is 10ft of country rock. Connection has now been made with the Martha load workings. No. 14 level. Edward lode, driving north of Dunlop crosscut, the next 14ft assavs 15/6 per ton. No. 4 Diamond drill hole, "is down 317 ft. The last 26ft is in quarts assaying 4/9 per ton. MAORILAND TRIAL CRUSHING RESULT. A trial parcel of ore from the Maoriland leader in No. 8 level has hisr been treated at Thames School of Mines for a very satisfactory return. One ton of general ore and eight pounds of picked stone yielded bullion worth £61. This leader ranges from one to fifteen inches in width and has been traced for a distance of 33 feet. The comnany has a ten-bead stamper battery which can be put In commission at very little cost. Five heads are ready to start, and the other five will soon be fixed np. and that will enable crush'nsr to be proceeded with. A bine pug seam runs on one side of the leader, which is always a good sign for gold in that district. Stating that she is left inadequately provided for, Mrs. O'Donovan,- widow of the late Police Commissioner John O'Donovan, who died in April last year, has petitioned the House of Representatives for a compassionate allowance. Mrs. O'Donovan, who is living at Hataitai, Wellington, states that her condition is due to expenses in bringing up a large family and the heavy costs of serious illness.
