WITH CASE OF WHISKY.
"PEPPERMINT AND CLOVES."
MASTERTON, Friday
John Hoffman, of Tinui, was found guilty to-day of having been in charge of car on August 12 while in a state of intoxication.
The evidence showed that Hoffman and another man were found on Blairlogie Hill asleep in a car, in which was a case of whisky. " The defence was that both Hoffman and the other man had had only two drinks each during the day and the bottles in the case contained peppermint and cloves and not whisky. Accused was fined £20. His license was suspended until the expiration of the present period, May 31 next, and he was prohibited from taking out another license for a further 12 months.
