ROWING.
WEST END CLUB.
The following report will be presented at the annual meeting of the West End Rowing Club next Thursday evening. The past season has not been a particularly successful one. The membership has been well maintained, and stands at 46 active, 9 honorary, and 8 life members. Ten Training College students were again admitted. Owing to the inability of three members to attend meetings and duties, a change was made in the constitution of the committee. One delegate, Mr. N. S. Cossey, was elected to the executive of the Auckland Rowing Association. The finances disclose a credit balance of £61 19/2 The committee has provided for depreciation on the building, furniture, fittings, and plant In the usual manner. One set of new oars was purchased, but. the committee' were unsuccessful in their m?«£! to dispose of the three practice clinker swivel fonrs. In club trials nine sets of fours, three sets of pair oars, and three single sculling rowed. When weather permitted tne_i<mg course, approximately one mile In length; was used. The evening was an unqualified success being largely attended by past and present members and their friend* The following notices of motion will be moved: Mr. V. McFariane moved to alter Rule 18 to read as follows: "At the firet general meeting in September in each ye"r two members. shallTbe elected to act with the captain to select crews to represent the club In races and matches." Mr A C Xorden moved to alter rule 12 to read as rf-k W IK-i7 r £S * e ° era ' management of the club shall be entrusted to a committee composed of the captain, deputy captain' secretary, treasurer, elected under rule 11* and three other members elected from the general body," and delete the word "eieht" on page 7 by substituting "four members to form a quorum."
