PURELY ACCIDENTAL.
DEATH OF DOCTOR'S WIFE STREET ACCIDENT DESCRIBED. A verdict of accidental death was returned this afternoon at the resumed inquest into the circumstances attending; the death of Mrs. Grace Dukes, wife oi Dr. E. S. Dukes, of 3, Glenside Crescent who wa sknocked down by a tramcar ii: Symonds Street and killed on the evening of .September 4. The evidence showed that it was a wel night, and that Mrs. Dukes had hei umbrella up as she crossed the road,'this having probably obscured her view 1 . A. J. Burrough, a jeweller, whose shoj is near the scene of the accident, said that he saw Mrs. Dukes run out in th< track of the tram. He was of tht opinion that the motornian made a verj . good stop, and that he could not in anj way be blamed for the mishap. Having heard the evidence of th( 1 motornian and of a witness who helped to extricate the body from the lifeguard of the car, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., said ' that it was clear the affair was purely accidental, and that no blame was atached to anyone.
