MEMBERS' FATIGUE.
A CASE IN POINT.
A SUDDEN COLLAPSE
(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.)
WELLINGTON, Thursday.
As members were assembling for the House of Representatives' sitting after the dinner adjournment to-night they | were concerned to see a colleague, Mr. E. P. Lee, member for Oamaru, fall ir*o a fainting fit at the entrance to the chamber. Medical attention was right at hand. Mr. Lee recovered consciousness quickly, and within an hour was able to walk out of the building. The incident illustrates the condition of fatigue in which members carried on their duties to-day. They had in most cases filled in Wednesday morning with committee duties, then there was the important business of the Licensing Bill, requiring their attention till nearly 5 a.m., the sitting extending over 14 hours. The member for Oamaru was speaking just before the House adjourned for dinner, and sgpmed extremely alert. He would have been called on to continue his speech at 7.30 but for his sudden illness.
