SEMI-FINALS TO-MORROW
Interest in. the Auckland Rtlgby League's Roope Rooster competition •is heightening, and bright exhibitions of the League code should be the order tomorrow, wßen the semi-final will be played. Newton meets Ponsodby ou No. 1 ground at C-arlaw Park in the principal match at 3 o'clock, while on No. 2 ground at the same time Marists will engage Devon port. No. 1 Carlaw Park, 1.4-} p.m., Mr. T. Chernside. IMPROVEMENTS IN PLAY. STATUS OF TUE SECTIONS. Improvements iu the standard of play and the status of the A and B sections iii the senior grade competition next reason were further discussed at a s|<ecial "meeting of the Auckland Rugby league's Management Committee last evening. The suggested procedure of improving the standard of play by the transfer of the best B section players to the A grade wag opposed by several B section delegates. The suggestion that financial inducements be offered to senior A grade clubs only received support from a majority of the Management Committee. It was stressed throughout the debate that this would undoubtedly prove attractive to players of mil grades. The chairman. Mr. G. Rhodes, pointed out that direct professionalism would not be tolerated. A sub-commitee consisting of Messrs. B Longbottoui. W. J. Ltyvldson, M. Soloiuan A. Brown. K. W. Probert and the chairtnat was appoluted to confer with the Advlsorj Committee and report to a further meeting
