LOCAL BODIES.
HENDERSON TOWN BOARD. The last meeting of the present Henderson Town Board was held last night. The chairman, Mr. £. 6. Rowntree presided, other members present being Messrs. Hart, McKay, Kennedy, Leighton, and Hartnell. The town clerk of the Matamata Town Board wrote pointing out that the Main Highways Board did not subsidise the coni suiting engineer's fees incurred in con- ' nection with the Main Highways Construction Works. He had been directed by his board to place the matter before the local member of Parliament, with a view to having the Main Highways Board ruling on this point suitably amended. He suggested that the Henderson Town Board should do likewise, as concerted action, on the part of all boards affected would bring about the desired amendment. Thin was unanimously agreed to. The foreman reported that the water tables on the Valley and McLeod's Roads had been cleaned, and the road put in order for the summer traffic. Water mains had been placed on Roberts Road, and four new services put in. He estimated the cost of a water extension to Mr, Corban's property at £139, to Mr. Elder* ton's at £19 10/, and certain road work on the Old North Road at £100 4/. It was agreed that the extension to Mr. Corban's be referred to the new board, that of Mr. Elderton's be proceeded with, and that the sum of £52 10/ be spent oa the Old North Road. * The building inspector reported that three permits for buildings had been issued during the month, the value being estimated at £520.
