ST. LUKE'S DAFFODIL SHOW.
, The 23rd annual show in connection with St. Luke's Church, Rotorua, was opened by I his Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. K. McLean), in the presence of an excellent gathering. His Worship congratulated the committee and the exhibitors on the magnificent display, and expressed hia pleasure that this annual show, which was inaugurated by Archdeacon Tisdall 23 years ago, had reached such a high standard. A feature of the exhibits was a very fine exhibit from the Government Grounds, not for competition. The judge, Mr. Hesketh, superintendent of the Government Grounds, congratulated the exhibitors on the very high standard of the blooms displayed. Following are the awards < — Eighteen varieties of dS*xiils: Miss Edith Robinson. Twelve varieties of daffodils: Mr. J Halkett 1, Mrs. C. A. Clarke 2. Six varieties of daffodils: Mr. J. Halkett 1, Mrs. Clinkard 2. Three varieties of daffodils: Mr. 3. Halkett 1, Mrs. Chatterton 2. Trumpet daffodils: Mr. J. Halkett 1, Mrs. C. A. Clarke 2. Shortcrown daffodils: Mr. J. Halkett 1. Medium daffodils: Mr. J. Halkett 1, Mrs. C. Halkett 2. Red cups: Mrs. J. Halkett 1, Miss E. Robinson 2. Champion bloom of show, seedling trumpet: Mr. J. Halkett. Champion coloured trumpet "Utuhina": Mr. J. Halkett. Champion half-trumpet: Mrs. C. A. Clarke. Mrs. Chatterton, on behalf of the daffodil committee, presented the Mayoress with a beautiful bouquet of daffodils, and Miss J. Carter presented the Mayor with a buttonhole. The school classes for collections of spring flowers and also displays were very well represented.
