Auckland affairs. ■ ■■■ j MANAGEMENT MATTERS. QUEEN" CAENTVAL INAUGURATED. Prior to tlxe ordinary business! meeting of the A.F.A. laat night, a special meeting of delegates was held to consider fho inauguration of a Queen Carnival competition amongst the clubs of the Association. Mr. A. Menzies presided. When the ordinary meeting was I resumed, the chairman stated that four \ candidates were definitely entered, these : being from Y.M.C.A., Tramways, Belmont, Ponsonby. A nomination had also ; been received from the business houses' teams, while North Shore, Onehunga, and Nbrthcot© were expected to nominate individually or jointly. Junior teams would no doubt be well canvassed by the teams that had nominated Queen?, while some of the lower grade clubs had already decided their allegianuc in the competition. It was earnestly hoped that the clubs would put their utmost energies into the- Queen Carnival competition, which would bo concluded before the season's ond. The chairman, on behalf ot the A.F.A., oonjjratulatt'd Mr. K. V. Roberts, the Ponsonby F.C. delegate, on winning the amateur billiard championship of Auckland, and ul>o Air. Bowie, a loading Soccer referee, for the line exhibition he ■put up as runner-up to Mr. Roberts. Mr. Roberts suitably replied. Application was made for the transfer of W. Palmer from Northcote to Manurewa, which was granted, provided the necessary formalities are in order. The question of the transfer of players at this juncture of the season was raised by Mr. G. Ballantyiio, who characterised the procedure as encouraging poaching in its worst form. lie considered it was tiino the A.F.A. made it distinctly understood that the practice should be stopped. < The Manurcwu delegate stated that in this case the- regular placer had met with an accident the other day, and Palmer had only played one or two matches for Northcote. Mr. I/.» C. 11. Dawson wrote remitting his honorarium as secretary to Blandford Park Committee, for which he was cordially thanked. -Mr. A. Fr.iHcr resigned from the Management Committee en account of ill health, and the resignation was received with regret. It was decided to carry on till the end of the seas.on with the management as*at present constituted. Mr. F. C.
