1 TOLD THEY -WERE ASSISTING IN FINAL VICTORY. REGIMENT WIPED OTTT SOUTH OF BEAUMONT. (Times ana Sydney Sun SerTlcee.) , PARIS, March 5. The Germans captured are prostrated and dazed by the awful ordeal through which they have passed. Many are nerve shaken and cry piteously. They give the most graphic details of various phases of the battle.- One regiment was ordered to advance over thick, sticky clay. The men stumbled and fell helplessly, , and mitrailleuses mowed them down. A. number of prisoners state that they were recalled from Serbia to Verdun, and told that they were assisting in the final victory.
