RAGLAN, November 17. A Calico Ball was held at the Te Mata Hall on Friday last, and proved a most enjoyable affair. The music was supplied by the Te Mata orchestra. The annual meeting of the Raglan Cricket Club was held at the Harbour View Hotel on Wednesday evening last, Mr. Blackett presiding. The following officers were elected for tlie ensuing year; President. Mr. H. J. Greenslade, M.H.R.; vice-presidents, Messrs. N. R. Cox, Rutherford. Darrow, E. O. Wallis. W. G. Moon, and H. Gilmour; captain, Mr. Blackett; secretary and treasurer,' Mr. Frank Sutton; committee, Messrs. Cameron, A. Rastrick, with the captain and secretary. The annual meeting of the Raglan Annual Regatta and Sports Club was held in the Town Hall last week. Mr. A. N. Norton was voted to the chair. It was decided to hold the annual gathering on Wednesday, January 3; and prize money to the extent of £40 was authorised. The following officers were elected: Patrons. Messrs. H j Green-s-inde, M.H.R.. and O. Rutherford: president. Dr. Sanders; vice-presidents Messrs. H. Matthews, P. H. Watkins. G. A. Edmonds, W. M. Bankart. E. Gilmour, F. W. IJrpen. A. Kyngdon. and E. W Husbank; judges. Messrs. A. J. Rastrick. A. R. Langley and W. J. Smith: starter and handicapper, Mr. A. N. Norton: committee. Messrs. E. O. Wallis. H. A. Wallis, W McCarthy, E. C. Houchen. W. McCracken T. H. Brown, J. Kidd, A. Smith, S. Foss, J. A. Pegler. H. Gilmour, V. Gordon, F. Sutton. J. Watkins. J. O'Sullivan, F. Vercoe. and H. McCardle. Mr. J. Darrow was re-elected sr-creuiry. A committee of seven was elected to draft programme for a further general Boinmittee meeting to approve The poll to borrow £4000 under the Iocal Bodies' Loans Act for road forming and metalling purposes -was held on Saturday last. Mr Ma'sbank, county returning officer, conducted the po!!. The results are ns follow*: Whaingaroa Riding, for loan. Raglan. 67: against 11; Te Uku., for 18. against 6; total for loan 85. against 17. Kairioi Riding. Raglan for loan 11, against 8. Te Mata, for loan 50. against 11. Making a grand total in favour of loan 146. against loan 36. The results give a good majority in favour of the loan.
