MAOKLLAND.
WATTTT, Friday.
Fox the two- -weeks operations up to 27th ult. about 50 tons of ore were crushed at the mill, of an estimated value of £2 15/ per ton r and that during this period 38Joz of amalgam was recovered from the plates. The battery is running on two shifts per day. Stripping reef and breaking down ore in various stopes is being proceeded with as Heretofore, also a drive 30 feet below the intermediate level was started during the last week, where payable ore is expected to be met with after about 15 feet of driving.
KOMATA BEEFS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) WAIHI, this day. No. 5 level Is advancing in a northerly direction, and has revealed to the management that the pay ore eirute is pitching strongly toward the north, and the values are on the high, grade. This is very encouraging, and should provide an impetus to push on with the north extension of No. 8, or the deepest level, for the purpose of intercepting the downward continuation of this chute. The fact of values carrying down into deeper areas of this mine is of great importance, and the general value should be increased twofold, as it' is the intention to'instal the whole mine with an up-to-date rock drilling machine plant. This is regarded as a step in the right direction, for rocks of komata are of extremely hard nature, requiring up-to-date drills to make progress more expeI Qitious.
