WAIHI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI. this day. At the meeting of the District School Committee last night, a copy of a letter from the Warden to the Board of Education was received, in which he stated that he would delay for a reasonable time dealing with school reserves, to see if any steps were taken to improve the" ground at the Central school. It was reported by Mr Murray that a tender had been let for clearing the ground at Central school, and that good progress is being made. Mr Benge, headmaster, reported netting £20 %l from the school concert, £TS of which was at the disposal of tile committee towards improving the school grounds. Mr Benge reported that 122 children were added to the roll during the first three months of the present year, and stated that if there was a corresponding number uext year, there was no room in the school, which even now is overcrowded. It was decided to urge upon the Board the necessity for putting up two new rooms to accommodate at least 120 children. The Headmasters' Association's recommendation that examinations in all schools be held in December of each year was agreed to.
