(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) SOUTHERN COURTS. WELLINGTON, Thursday.

. Iv the Supreme Court, William Henry Oakenfull, who had pleaded guilty to receiving stolen money, was admitted to probation for two years. George Ferris (alias John Anderson), John Byron Hamilton, and- William Robert Sinclair (alias Connolly) were convicted Of break into Laery and Co.'B store and stealing £41. They were deferred for sentences. Other charges against prisoners have yet to be heard.

CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. In the Supreme Court to-day, Wβ. Kirk was convicted of assaulting a constable, and sentenced to two years' imprisonment.

ILLEGAL SALE OF LIQUOR,

WELLINGTON, this day.

James White, forecabin steward Of the Rotoiti, was charged in the Magistrate's Court to-day with supplying liquor to a probationer constable while the vessel was alongside the wharf. The packet license only permits liquor to be sold on the vessel during the passage from port to port. Defendant stated that he refused to serve the man several times before finally serving him. A fine of 40/ was imposed.
