TERRITORIAL STATUS QUO. (By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright.) ST. PETERSBURG, August 15. The Russo-Japanese Convention, which has now been published, maintains the status quo of the respective" territories, with the principle of equal opportunity. The Convention recognises the independence and territorial integrity of China, with equal opportunity as regards commerce and industry for all nations in China. Both countries are pledged to uphold the maintenance of the status quo in China and the principle of equality with all peaceable means at their disposal.
