Tn response to invitation a number of ladies assembled at the Social Hall in the Y-3LC-A. building on Wednesday afternoon to hear an address on "Little Wives, Widows, and Temple Children of India." Mrs. Smeeton presided, and in an able manner introduced the speaker, Mrs. de Carteret, who has spent several years in mission work in various parts of India. The lecture was listened to with great interest, and the touching story of child suffering, and female hardship inseparably connected with heathen worship called forth the sympathy of Hie hearers. Mrs. A. C. Brown also spoke on the needs of Indian women, and urged the ladies present to read up the subject, and to do their utmost to alleviate the trials of those who are still in heathen darkness. Sudden weather changes are still to be looked for. Therefore be prepared ■with good, comfortable underclothing. Gen. Powlds.—(Ad.) WOIiKFS SCHNAPPS stimulates the •organs of urination. Don't pass over this lightly. We have a line of Kaipoi schools suits, to be had at half ' price, and only. 100~ of them. Fowlds.— .
