•ARRANGEMENTS FOR SAJURDATS MATCHES. At the weekly meeting, of tlie Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union last evening it was announced that the Goldneids Union had agreed to play the return inter-union, match in Aucklaud on Saturday. The following arrangements were made for Saturday's matches:— No. 1 sround (at three o'clock): Auckland
No. 1 ground (at three o'clock): Auckland V. Goldfields Union.
It was announced that Mr F. T. Evans, of Christchurch, had been agreed upon as referee for the Wellington-Auckland and tbe Otago-Auckland games; that Mr Garrett, of Christchnrch, had been suggested as referee for the South Canterbury match, and the name of Mr Manning, of Palmerston North, has been submitted for the Taranald-Auckland match. SECONDARY SCHOOLS' UNION. The following arrangements have been made for Saturday:— No. 2 ground (at two o'clock): Sacred Heart A v. King's College A. Referee, Mr Nicholson. No. 3 ground (at two o'clock): Sacred Heart B v. King's College B. Referee, Mr Pearson. No. 1 ground (at two o'clock): Grammar School v. Three Kings Native College. Beferee, Mr Jaggs. OTHER MATCHES. PAEROA, this day. At a meeting of the Goldfielda Union held at Karangahake last night, September 7th was suggested to the Thames Union as a date for the junior match at the Thames, the team to be selected by the selector from each centre.
Paeroa West Club appealed against tho decision of the Paeroa Union disallowinthe protest against the East Club on the ground that one player was not'qualined to play for the East. The appeal was upheld, and the match ordered to be

PADMERSTON N., Wednesday. Hawke's Bay met Horowhenua at Levia to-day. The ground was in good order with no wind.' Lewis' kick failed, and Horowhenna then attacked vigorously, bnt the visitors , defence ivas equal to the occasion, the game ending: Hawke's Bar 11: Horowhenna, 7. Mr Bnrns acted as referee. The team was subsequently entertained, and returned to Palmeraton by the evening train. ■*
