This leader is running m about the same directi^^ rfn Th Which the crosscut is hoins driven. The face is now some few feet past it, and the country appears to he a mixture of aandstone and quartz seams and leaders, so that it is probable that the leader just passed through is either a portion of the main reef or a dropper from it According to calculations there should be another 50fi to drive before the reef is cut. but it may have happened that the reef has straightened np somewhat, which would cause it to be cut sooner than was expected.
Royal Oak.—Timbering has been done and rails laid in No. 3 level a distance of 800 ft. A start will now be made to rise on the reef. Dooley and party see colours of gold occasionally in their tribute, where tbpy are working a nice looking lead. Dick and party are saving some very fair crushing dirf. lOlhs of picled stone were got in Power's spctioD. There are at present 20 trinuters in the mine.
Now Dart—The water is now down 2oft below No. 3 chamber. The shaft appears to he in fair order. The machinery worts well, and seems a nice compact little plant. Thames.--The main cross has been extended auoiher 13ft The country penetrated is still hard. "

Golden Belt—The drive sonth at No. 1 level has been extended 20ft during the week. A strong body of ore is showing, and the qunrtz treated gives a fair value. MAORILAND.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
WAIHI, this "day.
A special general meeting of shareholders in the Maoriland Co. was held on Saturday night to consider the question of giving an option over the property to Mr H. L. Simmons, with a view to flotation on the Home market. The usual resolution, giving the directors full power and authority to deal with the property, was carried unanimously, together with a proviso that on any sale being made a working capital of not less than £5000 be provided. Reports from the mine and battery manager are both of an encouraging nature. The mine manager reported the recent erushings had more than paid expenses, the last lot put through haying averaged over £3 per ton. ( . '
