DEEP-SEA TRAWLING.
UNSUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENTS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. Some secrecy is being preserved regarding the experimental work of the steam trawler Nora Niven, which was brought out from Home by the Government, but I understand that the results to date are far from satisfactory. Work was started in the South, and the trawler has been gradually coming North. Beyond a certain depth practically no fish has been secuml at all. In shallower water the fish caught have been of poor quality. It is pointed out by experts that the season is unsuitable for trawling.
