WAIHI CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY.

WAIHI, this day. A large gathering of those interested in the formation of a new co-operative workers' society to take the place of the one now in liquidation, was held on Saturday night, Mr. Carless presiding. It was unanimously decided to form a new society, and a provisional committee of thirteen was appointed to make preliminary arrangements to move immediately iv the direction of securing new premises and to arrange for the build-

The intention is to commence a new business when the present society's business is disposed of by changing hands or suspending operations. It is stated that sufficient capital is available to commence business on a small scale, but not sufficient to tender for the plant and stock of the present I society. "Mr. Carless has been elected chairman of the new society, and Mr. Cameron secretary.
