Michael Focperty. who was found in a sly grog shop on a lucent raid by the police, was charged before Air. Day, &.M.. with beinjr an idle and disorderly person, and an associate of thieves and vagabond.-. On charge he was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. 3Tbe charge of being found in a sly-grog 6h-op was wkhdrawn by the police.

The Harbour Board to-day appointed Sir G. A. K. Darbyshirc, at present employed in the Railway Engineer's Department at Dunedin, to the position of secretary - and engineer.

Robert Henry Woodhouse was remanded to-day on a charge of stealing £222. thr> property of the Tramway Board, in whose employ he was as clerk. Bail of £ 100 and two sureties of £50 earh.

Dullar. fruiterer, and boarding-house keeper, whose premises were recently raided by the police, was charged today in the Magistrate's Court, before Mr. Day, S.M., with sly grog-selling. He ■eras found guilty and lined £50 or a month's imprisonment.
