AMUSEMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE.

The final performance of "Robin Hood" was given at His Majesty's theatre on. Saturday evening before a very large audience. To-night, the comedy Ht?»ttwv "Raffles" (the amateur cracksman) will be staged for the first time in Auckland, with Mr Knight in the title role in this many-sided character. Mr Knight is said to give a skilful portrayal of the man of fashion and refinement, yet an instinctive thief. One of the strongest scenes in the play is said to be in the third act, when the amateur encounters the real burglar, and by sheer mental ascendency over the ruffian just saves himself from being murdered. The play is full of surprises, the finale of each scene being well concealed till the correct moment. The caste is a long one, and includes all the principal members of the company, while Miss Marion Grey makes her first appearance with the company in Auckland, in the part of Gweudolene Conron. The scenery and dressing is up to the usual J. C. Williamson standard.

BLACK-PREMYSLAV CONCERTS.

Great enthusiasm has prevailed in Sydney over the wonderful technique and emotional playing of the young Polish violinist Leopold Premyslav, and every paper alludes to his concerts with Mr Andrew Black as memorable treats. Mr Black himself has all the attributes of a great singer—a ringing resonant voice of wonderful range, a. clear enunciation, much sympathy, the warmth of genius and poetical temperament, and a kindly humour that talks to every listening soul in the audience. These two great artists, assisted by Miss Rosira Buckmann (soprano) and Miss Bessie Beattie (pianist) will give three concerts only in the Choral Hall on the 4th, sth. and 6th July. The plan is open at Wildman and Arey's.

THE OPERA HOUSE

A change of programme was staged by Fuller's Vaudeville and Musical Comedy Company at the House on Saturday night. The audience was large, and the entertainment was recelve'd witu every sign of demonstrative approval. In the tirst part excellent serio-comic items and dances were contributed by Misses Ivy Goodwin, Phoebe Lewis, and the Lewis Sisters. Messrs. Ted Stagpoole and Sam Keenan appeared with great success, as well. Bouita, the wonderful lady sharpshooter, made her farewell appearance, as also did Cleopatra aud her snakes. Some series ot moving pictures were a praiseworthy item. A budget of comic sings by Mr. Bob Lloyd were exceedingly well received, and the Lewis Sisters were liberally applauded for their doable song and dance. The illustrated songs. "When You Were Sweet Sixteen" and "Queen of Augels' - were very well rendered. "A Day in the Country," in the shape of a sketch by Sam Krenan and Phoebe Lewis, proved highly diverting to the audience. Jliss Nelly Powoi' loses none of her popularity, and her songs continue to be among the most acceptable items on the programme. The Stagpooies introduced what was termed "A Military Absurdity." uiHler thp title of "Defence. Not Defiance," and again proved their -claim to be comedians of exceptional ability. Tonight the management announce tie first appearance of Professor K!at»r and Miss Amy Klaer, with their train of trained monkeys, dogs, and oats. Other additions will also be made to the programme.
