(By Telegraph.—Press Assertion.) CHRISTCHURGH, this day. About 200 people left Christchurch by special train this morning to attend the funeral of the late Sir John Hall, at Hororata. Among them were Bishop Julius, Mr. Wigram, M.L.C., Mr. Justice Chapman, Messrs. Lewis and Allen, MJELB-'s (representing tie Opposition), also a large number of the clergy of all denominations, and representatives of the City Council, Law Society, A. and P. Association, Chambers of Commerce, Governors of the Canterbury College, exContingenters Association, Ellesmere A. and P. Association, Charitable Aid Board, Salvation Army, Art Society, Yorkshire Society, Selwyn County Council, Lyttelton and Ashburton boroughs and many others. Handsome floral tributes were forwarded from all quarters, including wreaths from the Government and the Premier. The weather is fine, and there was a large gathering of settlers at Coalgate. The Government was not officially represented, owing to Ministers not being able to get down from Wellington, but an appreciative telegram was received from Sir Joseph Ward, expressing regret and sympathy. The body was conveyed to Coalgate in a mortuary van on a special train. The cemetery is four miles from Coalgate.
