(To the Editor.) i A^'T 1 see h y y° m ' P a Per that the '; Minister of Marine says the Government intend to erect lighthouses around i the coast till the fairway is made safe i for the increasing maritime trade of • "New Zealand. Having had many years' i experience on the coast, in the inter- • colonial and South Sea Island trade I ( would like to make a few suggestions ; with regard to the different headlands -. which I consider ought to be attended t ■to as soon as convenient. Good lights i (are required on the Three Kings, N_rth < Cape, Poor Knights, Mata Kawa Point I Gable-end Foreland (with red sector • over Ariel Reef), Cape Kidnappers, Cape 1 Turnagam, and Plat Point. In the last- X mentioned instance a red sector is neees- < sary to prevent vessels getting inside < the two-mile limit, as the coast from i Cape Pallisser to Castle Point is most i dangerous. It is rather a long list, but ! lights on the places I have men- i tioned ought to be taken in hand when < circumstances will permit, commencin"- c with the North Cape.—l am, etc., , EXPERIENCE. f
