B OT MURDERED AND MUTILATED. (Received 8.49 a.m.) NEW YORK, June 25. Tie Black Hand gang in New Orleans recently captured a boy. and demanded £1200 for his ransom from the father, ■Mr Peter Lomana, a wealthy merchant, m demand was added the statement that the money was wanted to enable a member of the gang to marry GUbra, an jjaJjan beauty. 3£r. Lamana refused, and as an esanple to others the gang decided to kill the child. Caiacetara, an Italian, broke the boys Beck, and the body was carved and diafcftnied. This occurred last March. OTfins to a confession fifteen of the gang have now been arrested. [The Black Hand, like the Mafia, is an Kalian secret society, composed of desperadoes, and living on murders and threats of murder. For some time it was held to be a myth, and the crimes of its Members to be due to individual motives, jnt more recent events go to show that a definite organisation does exist, and that nany brutal and revolting crimes are to fe attributed to its members.]
