A MINER KILLED.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NELSON, this day. A fatal accident occurred in the Slate River claim, at Collingwood, to Llewellyn James. He was working in a tail race cut out of rock, with sides varying in height. The race had been used thiny yeara- One of the sides slipped in immediately below James, and a small portion of the debris pinned him to the other side. Two nozzles of water were in full play at the time. The water dammed the back race, and it was soon filled to a height of several feet, covering James where he lay. When his body was found there were only a few stones covering it, and it bore no marks of violence. Doceased will be acorded a Foresters' funeral. - Ac injuest is proceeding.
