Albert Johnston, alias Albert Jones, who "nad Been found" guilty of receiving, a watch and chain, stolen from a dwelling at Mercer, was sentenced tv three months' hard . labour. DISCHARGED. Alexander Augustus Jones, who pleaded 'not guilty to indecently assaulting a ebildT- at Kaurimu, wasj acquitted by the jury and discharged.
SUPREME COURT.
(By Telegraph.— Pro.ss Association.) WAXGANUI, this day. The district Supreme Court opened today before Mr Justice Cooper, who, in his charge- to the .Grand Jury, said he was glad to say that calendar was not large, including, as it did, only eight charges against .six persons. one ; however, being that of indecently assaulting a child- A. charge of cattle-stealing against James Floyd is now proceeding.
SENTENCE IN SHOOTING CASE.
DUSEDIN*. this day. Isaac Hiirring, convicted in the Supreme Court yesterday on the minor count of common assault ill the Hoinahapa shooting case, was to-day sentenced to six months' imprisonment. At the criminal sittiugs today Philip 'Solomon, : ;(aged 17), and Louis Solomon (aged 23)* pleaded guilty to assaulting one Legget, With a bradawl. Lewis was fined turee pounds and PMlip was admitted to probation for nine months and ordered to pay 40/ and costs.
