(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ■WAIHI, this day. H. Boxall. one of the victims of t!ie recent mining acicdent in the Waihi mine, had an operation successfully performed on his bead, where a wound was caused by pieces of quartz -splintering the bone Fragments of quartz were removed' from the bone. x. : - ■ At a special meeting of the Waihi Hospital trustees last evening applications were received for the position of warflsmald and laundress. Miss L. Jones ana Mrs Cousin were appointed to the respective positrons. Mr Kobt Skeen, an old Thames boy* wa« a here yesterday. Mr Skeen has been away from the district some twenty years, being now a resident of Tonga, ■where he 'holds stn important position as magistrate. He is 'visiting Auckland. Thames, Waitefcanri, and other places during his holiday.
