COW IN A RESTAURANT.
FURIOUS CHARGE ON THE MIRRORS. Considera.ble excitement prevailed in the vicinity of Armstrong-street, Ballarat (Victoria), on Saturday last, owing to the antics of a cow which had broken away from its driver while on the way to the saleyards. The animal rushed into a. right-of-way in the northern end of the thoroughfare, dashed into the rear portion of Angus' Cafe, and after plunging about the yard for several minutes rolled down a spiral staircase into the kitchen in the basement of the building, and finally entered the dining-TOom.
The customers in the cafe were greatly alarmed, and the attendants sought refuge from the infuriated animal in side, passages. Several gentlemen, amid crios from the ladies, endeavoured to hunt the cow up stairs leading into Start-street, but this action only caused the runaway to become more frantic, for it charged several large mirrors, in which its figure 'was reflected, and upset a number of smfiU tables on which refreshments had been laid.
A mirror and a quantity of glassware were smashed, while, some crockery was demolished. At last the cow became tightly wedged betwfen the counter and the wall, and while thus held ropes were procured, and it was tightly bound ajid hauled out of the cafe.
