Letherin and Stepdancer here moved tip a bit, but nothing challenged Star Rose, which at half a mile from home held a. two lengths' lead lln the straight. Pine did not bustle Pettovna when thus challenged, and. letting her sail along, she eventually shook both off. and seemingly had the race won at the distance. In the last lOOrds, however. Captain Shannon enmc with a tremendous rush on the outskle, and. before one could understand where he had come from, he. had the race won decisively.
