Some iof the men engaged in driving the ferro-concrete piles for the new Queen-street •wharf had a narrow escape from serious injury this afternoon, A pile had been lifted off a punt and when its weight was thrown upon another engine used for placing it in an upright position, the engine was lifted off its foundations and drawn forward several feet. Part of the winch was broken, but the boiler received no damage. The four or five men in attendance on the engine ran off the punt (irectly the accident was noticed and nobody vras hurt. The greater Auckland question is to be revived in Grey Lynn, and a petition is now in course of preparation, asking the Grey Lynn Borough Council to take another poll on the question of amalgamation with the city. PALMEESTON UOETH, this day. An old-age, pensioner" named William Tompkins,' was found dead by 'his wife at midday yesterday. Deceased, who was nearly S6 yeais of age, had been in the colony sixty-four years. Death was due to heart failure.
