SHIPOWNERS' FEDERATION. Tthere was a large attendance yesterday at a meeting of the Shipowners' Federation Committee. Seamen's Wages. —A letter from the Seamen's Union, asking for an increase of -wages for sailors and firemen, -which .had been sent to steamship owners, members of the federation, was considered, and a reply ordered to be sent on behali of the members of the federation.
Water Police.—A letter was also ordered to be sent to the Minister for Justice. asking for the provision of water police and a police boat, this being deemed necessary in consequence of the constant robberies from vessels in the haxbour.
Firefloat.—lt -was also resolved to. communicate with the Harbour Beard, asking that steam be constantly kept up on the firefloat, so that the vessel could be available without delay in the event of fires occurring.
