Insulting Language.—William Eggiat jni was charged with" having been druak and used insulting language to a urornan. Accused gave evidence that ha was provoked by the complainant, wh» had deserted him. For the drunkenness accused was fined 5/; for the language he was fined £3 and costs. THIS DAY. (Before Mr District-Judge Kettle.)" The Tipplers.—Far drunkenness, Fanny , . Madden was fined 5/ and 2/6 cab fare, andi by consent, was prohibited. Walter Humby (prohibited), for drunkenness! and being in the Newton Hotel though prohibited, was , sent to prison ■for a month. In -want.—William H. Tranks, summoned to show why he should not contribute to the support and education of his two children "who are in ai\ industrial school, produced an account of his earn-* ings. He he had been a sufferer from chronic bronchitis for the last 20 or 30 years;, and was now in atxsomte want. He had recently hacl himself and his child laid up, and had no property beyond the cXoth.es he -was wearing. Sub-Inspector Gordon said that under the circumstances he could not ask foJF an order. The case was dismissed. Alleged Theft of \Oows. —Alfred Sharps pleaded guilty to the theft of four co-wfi, valued at £20, the jjToperty of Thomas C. Williams, a Karaku. farmer. Sub-In-spector Gordon asked '/or a remand till to-morrow, and 'this was. granted. Bondsman in Trouble.--William Montgomery, a I>argaville hbtelkeeper, appeared in reference to his bond for a man named Henry Brown, charged with obtaining money on a valueless cheque. The bond had been entered into at Dargaville for £20, and the accused man Brown had failed to appear at the Auckland Court as ordered. Mr (Montgomery said he left the accused at his hotel, gave him £5 to pay expenses, and saw him safely aboard the sieamer for Auckland. He had no idea where he now was, or why he had not appeared. His Worship said he was sorry to have to call on "JVTt- Montgomery to fulfil the terms of hia bond and pay the £20. If the accused were found possiWy the Minister would refund the money. Mr Montgomery said he would assiav the police in the search for Brown. [Maintenance; —-"William Thompson, tv&p did not appear, was fined >£2 for disobedience of an order to contribute 7/6 a week toward the sujgrpoxfc of i&f illegitimate child. \
