In connection with the proposed •widening of Beach-road, referred to at the last meeting of the Auckland City Council, a communication from the Town uierk. was read at the meeting cv the Harbour Board to-day requesting the co-operation of the Board in the widening of the road where it joins the strand at Mechanics' Bay. Messrs. Cousins and Atkins had agreed to set back their propGsed new building 10. feet, and the City Council requested that the Board -would assist in the matter by consenting to dedicate this strip along the frontage of 216 ft for street purposes.
