THE NGAPUHI EXCURSION.
{By Teligraph.—Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI, this day. The s.s. Ngapuhi, with an excursion party numbering 54, bound for an eight days pleasure cruise along the coast, arrived here last night. On Saturday the- steamer cruised around the Great Barrier, calling at Whangapara-. para, Port Fitzroy, and Catherine Bay. The entrance to Port Fitzroy. through the Governor's Pass was greatly admired. The excursionists were landed at various points in the steamer's oil launch and some availed themselves of the pigeon service to send messages to their friends. Excellent fishing was * obtained at The Pigeons. One hapuka caught weighed over SOlbs. Yesterday ' the steamer cruised around the Poor Knights and Hen and Chickens groupi, and in the afternoon the passengers were landed at Whangarei Heads and strolled over tbe biUs. The weather has been perfect and everyone is delighted with the excursion, the southern visitors being especially enthusiastic. To-day the party are proceeding in buggies to the Wharaore Cares, Kamo Springs, and Whangarei Falls.
