ROWING.
The West End Rowing Clnb held trial fours on Saturday afternoon for trophies presented by Mr A.- Kohn, a viee-preside_t. The crews competing numbered, thirtean, and the conditions for ro-—ing beinj- almost p_-fe<-r some capital r—cma: was witnessed. The final brought out the "following crews: (1) W. Maekrell (stroke). E. Hennelly, H. lander, L,. H-e__m.ing, nod S. "Weston (cos.); (2) F. A. Browne (stroke). A. Armitage, Mitchell, S. M. Barry, and S. Elliott (cos.); 05) W. O. Cat-law (stroke). P. Carter, V. Morreli, R. Bigelow and F. Linder (cox.); (4) F. G_try (stroke). C. llatheson, E. Flinn, F. L. Connolly, and L. Weston (cox.). The crews were sent away to an even start, keeping well together until a snort distitnce from tlie finishing: line, -where in the final spurt Carlaw's crew went into first place, and won by a few indies, Mack-reld-'s and Garry's crews finishing a deadliest for second place, Bro-wne's crew being about three feet beMnd.
