Schwab, Gates and other financiers are promoting a great wheat corner, with resources amounting to twenty million sterling, to force tm the price of wheat to six shillings- ■» bushel. [Mr. Charles M. Schwab is, of eouree,the president of the United States Steel Corporation, and one of the most daring of the great American financiers. The. last great wheat corner was that; .pror moted by Mr. Joseph Leiter, of Chicago, in 1897-8, which ended in the dedded difc comfiture of tkat financier.]
